Today is National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

Even though HIV testing and prevention are more advanced than ever before; even though we have groundbreaking medical technologies like PrEP; even though we have federal money and politicians dedicated to ending AIDS; even though laws enforcing the stigma against HIV/AIDS have loosened (but not by much); this disease still affects our community at disproportionate rates

Today, take the time to read up on HIV/AIDS, talk to someone in your life about PrEP, reflect on the work our queer brothers and sisters did to inspire action around the AIDS crisis decades ago, or even get tested yourself. Awareness is the first step; let’s do something about it, too.
