Jamey Rodemeyer’s school district has suspended several students in the aftermath of his bullying-related suicide, though the superintendent declined to say how many students were suspended or for how long.

Last week police closed the investigation of 14-year-old Jamey’s bullies without charges, though their investigation discovered at least five incidents of bullying against Jamey at his New York high school. 

“Regarding the severity of punishments these students received, Martzloff said only that the students face ‘a minimum of suspensions,’” according to the News. “That implies at least short-term suspensions of up to five days, with the possibility of long-term suspensions subject to a hearing. Expulsion is not an option for students of this age.”

I’m so sick of the apathy surrounding this case and others. Someone needs to be held accountable. Bullies need to be taught to change their ways. People in positions of power need to step up. We need more than this. Jamey deserves more than this.
