diabeticbarbie asked: I, myself, would define pansexuality as being attracted to people for themselves. You mentioned gender, orientation, and sex, which are all valid, but I would also include religion and race, as well as anything else that could be used to "define" people.

As you also said, though, to each their own!

solongasthisthingsloaded asked: In regards to the question about pansexuality: It's different for everyone, but to me it means that whom I love, and whom 'mI attracted to isn't based on gender. I love/am attracted to people based on their personality, and it really doesn't matter to me what's in their pants. It basically means that you're open to anything, gender-wise.

The year in LGBT news
It’s been a good one, hasn’t it? With the help of some of my favorite news sources (mostly the Advocate - surprise!) we’re going to look at some of the highlights and lowlights of this year as it fared for the gay world.  Let’s start with the big ones.  The government finally repealed the military’s discriminatory Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy.  ...

lackadaisical-digestion asked: Thanks so much for taking the time to help me with my c-span documentary! Your most recent posts correlate perfectly with my footage so far, and it will be really helpful to get an expert's input.

1) I noticed you cite The Advocate Magazine often, are you at all affiliated with them?

2) Have you seen a recent decline in social adversity to the gay community?

delirium-trigger asked: I just wanted to say that, even though I'm not a homosexual myself, I'm greatly honored to follow your blog. It makes me feel amazing to know that there are actual humans out there that reason and think for themselves (them being your 2000+ followers). Also wanted to congratulate you for all the followers! Have a great new year and keep fighting for the rights that we all deserve!...

The Advocate's letter from the editor this month:... →
“We’re nowhere near where we need to be,” declares Jon Barrett, editor of the Advocate’s print magazine, in the mag’s Best of 2010 issue. (Hint: this begins a slew of New Year’s and “best of” posts! Get ready!) Barrett’s letter to the editor in this issue is a bit confusing. He lists all the accomplishments of 2010: Prop 8 declared...

LGBT clinic surpasses fundraising goal, stays open →
A little while back, we talked about the Howard Brown Health Center in Chicago, a clinic with a mostly LGBT clientele. The clinic was in danger of closing if it couldn’t raise $500,000 in 50 days.  The clinic surpassed that goal, raising $658,754 from 12,000 donors, the Advocate reports. An anonymous donor gave the clinic $200,000 in challenge grants, asserting that the center helped save...

High school girl forced to come out, outed to... →
Stop reading if you get angry easily.  Two softball coaches at a high school in Texas heard a rumor that a teenage girl had been gossiping about one of them, so they decided to confront her. But not fairly.  The coaches brought the girl into a locker room and locked the door before asking her questions about the rumors. When the girl, referred to only as SW, denied the accusations, the coaches...

More laws against discrimination in Utah help... →
It’s getting a little easier to be gay in Utah. The state’s Grand County recently enacted protections against housing and employment discrimination for LGBT people. This means 1 in 4 people in Utah are protected from “discrimination based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.” This may represent greater support for a statewide law adding sexual orientation and...
